grapefruitIt’s grapefruit season, and I’m lovin’ my fresh squeezed juice. Did you know that grapefruits and oranges are great natural sources of Vitamin C? Yes, and so what, you might say? Here’s what….

Here are 4 of many reasons to enjoy this slightly tangy but sweet fruit.

Stave off Infection
Eating or drinking foods high in Vitamin C are beneficial to keep infection away. That means fewer sick days spent feeling rotten.

Free Radical Scavenger
Vitamin C is a free radical scavenger. A diet rich in Vitamin C foods improves our ability cope with exposure to environmental toxins. Toxins that lead to cellular damage and increased inflammation in our body. I personally have less pain in my wrists and elbow joints when I eat a healthy diet rich in Vitamin C containing foods.

Healthy Collagen
Vitamin C is used in collagen formation, and collagen is part of our skin, muscles and tendons, even our arteries. Healthy glowing skin, strong muscles and healthy arteries are important not only to our health and happiness, but to slowing our aging process.

Vitamin C Aids Iron Absorption
Low iron levels – aka anemia – is a major cause of feeling weak, rundown and lethargic. Loss of appetite can also be attributed to low iron status. So, the next time you have a steak or an iron pill, whichever your fancy, be sure to sip and enjoy a glass of fresh squeezed orange or grapefruit juice.

Less pain, less risk, slower aging and more energy? I’m all in. How about you?
